Liverpool have completed the signing of Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho

Due to a missed transfer deadline, a January agreement for the Portuguese teenager fell through.

After failing to capture Fulham attacker Fabio Carvalho in January, Liverpool has finally finalized its signing of the 19-year-old.

On July 1st, the Portuguese adolescent, who is believed to have signed a five-year contract, will make his debut.

Carvalho, who is out of contract this summer, was set for a move four months ago on deadline day when a £5 million agreement with the SkyBet Championship champions was agreed, but the transfer window closed before medical and legal paperwork could be completed.

However, it is understood that Liverpool was desperate to avoid a number of overseas clubs showing interest beyond January.

When the player’s contract expired, he was taken into an auction.

As a result, they agreed to pay a further £2.7 million in add-ons and a 20% sell-on clause in addition to the initial sum to secure the player’s future ahead of the season’s finish.

Those stipulations are similar to those imposed by a tribunal following the signing of another Cottagers youngster, Harvey Elliott, in the summer of 2019, a considerably more contentious deal.

The move of Harry Wilson to Craven Cottage last summer mended the difficult relationship between the two clubs as a result of that deal, and Liverpool was satisfied with Fulham’s owner Tony Khan and chief executive Alistair Mackintosh’s cooperation during the Carvalho negotiations.

Carvalho, who has 10 goals in 36 league games this season, was granted permission by Fulham to visit Liverpool’s AXA training site to meet manager Jurgen Klopp and his coaching team, get his medical, and arrange personal conditions.
