Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Manchester United’s pursuit of a striker today and has made a suggestion that he believes is “perfect” for the club. Lille’s Jonathan David was named by the journalist as the best signing that could be made.
Alvaro Morata, Mauro Icardi, Raul de Tomas, and the aforementioned David are among the other players named by Romano as potential targets following a “collapse of negotiations” for Marko Arnautovic.

With Cristiano Ronaldo not getting a proper pre-season and getting older, the Red Devils are in search of goalscorers right now. Marcus Rashford is a potential option but reports link him with an illustrious move to Paris Saint-Germain right now.
The legendary Portuguese forward was the team’s top scorer in the 2021/22 season but this isn’t something that Erik ten Hag can become overreliant on.
The 22-year-old Canadian international is a proven goalscorer at all levels. For his country, he has grabbed 21 goals in 32 caps while impressing at the club level, first for Gent in Belgium and now for Lille in France.
His current club noticed him during his second season with Gent when he scored 23 goals in 40 games. He has been a consistent scorer in Ligue 1 since his move, with 13 and then 19 goals in his first and second seasons, respectively. The 22-year-old has already made an impression this season, striking out twice in two games.
The impressive goalscorer has youth on his side and a proven track record of putting the ball in the net, which could be improved during his time at Manchester United.
