After it appeared that the Brazilian missed the Eredivisie champions’ first day of preseason practice on Friday, rumors of a probable reunion with Erik ten Hag went into overdrive. Ten Hag was replaced by new manager Alfred Schreuder, who oversaw the first session, although Antony was nowhere to be seen.

The 22-year-old would have been anticipated to return as Ajax gears up for their championship defense after missing Brazil’s most recent international matches. Jurrien Timber, a target for United who was also absent on the first day but is probably taking a long holiday after helping the Netherlands earlier this month.

Naturally, Antony’s absence increased rumors that a transfer to Old Trafford would be in the works. United has determined that the forward is their best choice to strengthen the right-wing and address a positional issue.

In spite of the rumors regarding his future, the Brazilian was back at Ajax’s training facility on Saturday to send a message. As he gets ready for the upcoming season, the forward released videos of himself working out at the club’s gym.

The rumors about his future don’t appear to have diverted Antony’s attention. Additionally, Schreuder addressed United’s interest in the forward and reaffirmed his desire for the forward to stay in Amsterdam.

Schreuder told ESPN, “Clearly, we want to keep the boy. “He is under contract to me until 2025, but I’m not interested in any particular players. I truly want to collaborate with him and I’m about the squad. Both he and the club are aware of this.”
