David de Gea, the goalkeeper for Manchester United, has spoken candidly about the difficulties he had upon relocating to the city he now calls home.
De Gea has cemented his position as United’s starting goalkeeper ever since his 2011 transfer from Atletico Madrid. The Spaniard was able to maintain his reputation despite United’s disastrous 2021/22 season by making several critical stops.
The 31-year-life old’s in England hasn’t always been easy, though. He has now given United Daily an explanation of some of the challenges he has encountered.
My English was quite poor at first since I arrived in Manchester when I was between the ages of 19 and 20 and I came with my parents, according to De Gea. It was quite difficult for me. It was difficult at first because everything was different from when I was in Spain, including the people and the players. I gradually improved my English and started interacting more with the others, and now that I’m here, it seems like home.
De Gea even mentioned how, when in Spain, he misses Manchester. It now feels like my actual home, he continued.
