Midfielder rejected Manchester United’s £300,000-per-week offers in order to prove that they made a big mistake

Paul Pogba has stated that he wants to demonstrate to Manchester United that they made a mistake by not extending his contract beyond this summer.

After failing to impress throughout his six-year stay at United, the 29-year-old midfielder will leave on a free transfer for the second time on June 30.

Pogba joined United from Juventus in August 2016 for a then-world-record £89 million deal, four years after leaving Old Trafford for the Italian club.

Pogba is expected to re-sign with Juventus this summer, but he wants to prove his worth wherever he ends up.

“My thought process is to prove Manchester (United) that they made a mistake in delaying to grant me a contract,” Pogba stated in his new Amazon Prime documentary, The Pogmentary.

“And to prove to other clubs that Manchester had made a mistake by not signing me.”

Pogba received at least two offers for more than his current £290,000-per-week contract, which had already made him one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League.

However, when his late agent Mino Raiola revealed the club’s second offer in July, Pogba said the club had given him “nothing.”

“How can you say you want a player and then provide him nothing?” Pogba explains. “I’ve never seen anything like that.”

Pogba only won the Europa League and League Cup during his time at United, but he did assist France to win the 2018 World Cup.

Pogba has been accused by some United fans of playing well for his country but being unable to duplicate similar form for his club.

Raiola feared that something was “preventing him” from living up to his United price tag.

“We have to make you feel as good as you do when you’re with the French national team,” Raiola explains. “With them, you’re different. Do you get it? You’re a Manchester United teammate of Paul Pogba‘s. It’s out of the ordinary.

“You’re the real Pogba with the France team, the Pogba of Juventus, the Pogba that everyone adores.” There’s a stumbling issue with Manchester.”
