Leicester City is set to welcome back an important duo for their match against Manchester City.
The most recent Leicester City injury news ahead of this weekend’s game against the Premier League’s top scorers, Erling Haaland, who will be looking to add to his 17 goals at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester City is set to welcome back two of their defensive stalwarts in time for their meeting with the Premier League’s leading scorers Manchester City.
City has recorded three clean sheets in a row for the first time in the Premier League since November 2019, their latest in a 4-0 win over Wolves, with their defensive record, impressively turning around after a porous start. But they will need all the help they can get when they welcome Man City to the King Power Stadium this Saturday.
Pep Guardiola’s side has 36 goals from 11 matches so far, 11 more than any other side, and an average of more than three a game. Seventeen of those have been scored by Erling Haaland, who has made an astonishing start to life at the club.
But set to be back to tackle the Norwegian is Jonny Evans. Despite the run of clean sheets, City skipper Evans is likely to return to the line-up after overcoming a calf problem that has kept him out of the past three matches.
Also potentially making a return is defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. He has missed the last four games since being substituted at half-time in the victory over Nottingham Forest with a hamstring issue, and he would provide plenty of cover in front of the back four if he was chosen over Boubakary Soumare.
Both players are due to return to training this week. Manager Brendan Rodgers said in his post-match press conference at Molineux: “Wilf, we just didn’t want to take the risk today, so he’ll join the training group this coming week. Jonny should be as well. Those two will hopefully have a good week’s training and be available for next weekend.”
That would leave City with an almost clean bill of health. The only players then on the sidelines would be Ricardo Pereira (Achilles) and Ryan Bertrand (knee)
