The Reds put themselves through their paces during a Wednesday evening training session at the Kallang Football Hub. Diogo Jota, who was the only senior member of the traveling squad who did not play against United because he was still recovering from a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty in the summer, participated fully in the session.
Around the same time, hundreds of ecstatic fans attended a fan event including singer-songwriter Jamie Webster and members of The Anfield Wrap, together with former Liverpool players Sami Hyypia, Luis Garcia, Vladimir Smicer, Jose Enrique, and Jason McAteer.
The Reds will continue ramping up their preparations for Friday’s friendly against Crystal Palace with an open training session on Thursday evening, which is likely to be attended by several hundred fortunate fans.
A number of tickets are still available for the game at the 55,000-capacity Singapore National Stadium, although the majority have been snapped up with Liverpool overwhelmingly the favored side.
Liverpool’s Far East tour has taken a more subdued tone after the expansive bulk and relentless buzz and bustle of Bangkok.
Without the cheers that had welcomed them in Thailand and persisted for the majority of their stay there, the Reds arrived at Singapore Changi Airport late on Wednesday afternoon.
The fact that there wasn’t exactly the same amount of excitement among the residents when Jurgen Klopp and his team were in town may have more to do with the location’s relative laid-backness than any particular lack of interest in Liverpool’s visit.
