Cristiano Ronaldo breaks silence for the first time after first premier league game

Since coming off the bench in Manchester United‘s Premier League opener against Brighton, Cristiano Ronaldo has issued an update.

The captain of Portugal has informed Manchester United that he intends to quit the team this summer in order to play in the Champions League. He is also unhappy with the club’s lack of action in the transfer market and the wage drop they have given him.

Ronaldo was expected to start the match against Brighton, but Christian Eriksen led the line instead, ultimately underperforming as the false nine, with the Portuguese superstar entering the game in the second half.

Ten Hag explained that the decision was made due to Ronaldo’s lack of match fitness, as the forward did not participate in a full pre-season with his teammates after only playing 45 minutes in a single friendly game against Rayo Vallecano.

Ronaldo left the game early after being replaced at halftime, fueling speculation about his future at Old Trafford.

He missed the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia due to “family reasons,” an excuse accepted by the club, but his lack of fitness contributed to him not being named to Erik ten Hag’s first United starting XI for a competitive match.

Since the game, no United player has posted anything on social media, but Ronaldo broke the silence on Wednesday evening.

For the first time since the Brighton game, Ronaldo posted an update on his social media channels, implying he’s been working hard to regain his fitness and force his way back into Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup.

He shared images of himself hard at work during the club’s latest training session on his social media accounts, where it appears he did his best to impress Erik ten Hag ahead of the next match against Brentford.

“Hard work always pays off,” Ronaldo wrote alongside the images.
