Manchester United waiting for response as they submit £80.2 million offer to sign star

Manchester United has been attempting to sign Antony for quite some time, and the newest reports indicate that a new offer has been made.

The Red Devils had a proposal of £67.6 million rejected, and The Times learned yesterday that they are preparing an even greater offer to entice the attacker, who is worth roughly £84.5 million.

According to today’s edition of Sport (news image provided below), the Old Trafford club is considering selling Cristiano Ronaldo in order to boost their offense.

The Spanish news source claim Erik ten Hag is eager to sign Antony from Ajax and the last offer Man Utd submitted is of around £80.2million (95 million euros).

The Catalan media outlet has mentioned that thus far, the Dutch champions have not responded to the offer made by the Premier League side.

Ajax manager, Alfred Schreuder, has confirmed United’s interest in Antony and the player’s desire to leave. Moreover, he also indicated that the Brazilian international could be sold (via The Mail):

“We are not assuming Antony will leave Ajax but everyone knows I rate Ziyech — €80m (£67m, United’s opening bid) is a lot of money, €100m (£84m) is also a lot of money. But I explained that we’ve already sold a lot of players, so it wouldn’t be good if we sold another one.”

The 22-year-old winger, who won the Gold Medal at the Olympics in 2021, directly contributed to over 20 goals for the Eredivisie giants in the last campaign.

Antony mainly plays on the right flank and if signed, the South American will improve the quality and depth in the wide attacking positions.

However, with Cavani already gone, if Ronaldo also ends up leaving, Man United should move to secure the signing of a center forward to reinforce the strike force.
