£65m midfielder wizard available now as Liverpool slow in transfer decision

Manchester United signing Casemiro essentially rules them out. They’ve been the principal admirers this summer, too – someone can swoop in.

And perhaps that should be Liverpool. We wrote earlier this month that De Jong would be an inspired signing and stick by that. He’s a press-resistant player, someone who can collect the ball from deep consistently and move it well.

If that loan-to-buy option is really there, we think Liverpool should at least look into it. De Jong would be the player to fix nearly every problem we saw in the Reds’ midfield at Old Trafford.

And he should be very easy to get.

And Thiago is one Liverpool can focus on regarding their midfield. He’s the player who can beat the press, capable of picking it up deep and moving the ball between the lines. With him out, teams can press Liverpool and seriously stifle them.

Fulham did it even with Thiago in the side while Manchester United caused enormous problems on Monday. Liverpool needs someone else who can be comfortable against a press – and the perfect player is available.

Frenkie de Jong is what Liverpool need

Barcelona requires funds. According to AS, they need roughly £17 million to register Jules Koundé, a summer signing from Sevilla. They have a few players they can sell, including Frenkie de Jong, a £65 million signing from Ajax in 2019.

According to journalist Gerard Romero, Bayern Munich could make a play for him, possibly on loan with a purchase option.

However, Florian Plettenberg believes that will not happen. In reality, the number of teams interested in signing De Jong is dwindling.

And maybe it should be Liverpool. We predicted earlier this month that De Jong would be an inspired signing, and we stand by that prediction. He’s a press-resistant player who can routinely collect and move the ball from deep.

If the loan-to-buy option is truly available, we believe Liverpool should investigate it. De Jong would be the player to solve practically every issue in the Reds’ midfield at Old Trafford.

And he should be rather easy to obtain.
