player set for medicals tomorrow as Man Utd reaches all agreement with Newcastle

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United and Newcastle United have agreed on a loan deal for goalkeeper Martin Dubravkaon.

The Red Devils began talks with the Slovakia international last week, and it was initially thought that the Magpies could reject their offer to take him on loan with a purchase option.

According to Romano, the Tynesiders have now been persuaded of a similar deal. They’ve agreed on a loan agreement with a £5 million buyout clause, and Dubravka is on his way to United.

Personal terms have already been agreed with, according to Romano, and the goalie is already on his way to Manchester for his physical on Tuesday.

United has recently picked up momentum with back-to-back Premier League wins, but manager Erik ten Hag would still want more signings before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

A new goalkeeper has been one of the top targets for United, and they are now set to sign Dubravka, who could be a handy competitor to David de Gea during the current season.

De Gea did not put a foot wrong in the previous campaign, but he has started the current one in an unconvincing fashion with a couple of goalkeeping blunders already in the league.

Despite this, he has been Ten Hag’s number one, although things could change later this season if he struggles to adapt to the manager’s tactical philosophy.

Dubravka lacks excellent passing skills, but he is far more dominant in the box. The 33-year-old is more agile than De Gea and has the ability to make big claims.

He is also capable of making long passes. Last season, he averaged 8.6 long balls per league game, which was far more than De Gea did in the same time frame (3.1).
