Manchester City legend says the club will regret selling Gabriel Jesus and Sterling

According to former striker Sergio Aguero, Manchester City may regret selling Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal and Raheem Sterling to Chelsea.

Jesus, Mikel Arteta’s top transfer target this summer, signed a five-year contract with Arsenal earlier this month for a fee of £45 million.

Sterling moved to Chelsea in another £45m deal, with the England international reportedly agreeing terms on a £300,000-a-week deal.

Aguero played with both men at the Etihad Stadium under Pep Guardiola, and the Argentine striker feels the club may have made a mistake in letting them leave.

‘Both players were important in the City scheme,’ Aguero told Stake.com. ‘I’m sure City will miss them a lot as they are great players.

‘There will be a new make-up of the attack but this is a team with a great squad that will be ready for new challenges.’

Sterling, 27, has played a pivotal role in City winning the Premier League in four of the last five seasons but is looking for more regular starts ahead of the Qatar World Cup later this year.

In 28 games played in the top flight for the champions last season, Brazilian international Jesus, 25, scored eight goals and provided nine assists. He has scored 95 goals in 236 games played for City in all competitions.

Guardiola has had a busy summer, adding Leeds‘ Kalvin Phillips for £50 million and Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for £51.1 million.

Regarding Haaland’s arrival, Aguero continued, “I believe that an outstanding player like him will be able to reconcile his style with that of Pep’s teams.
