Liverpool’s best player set to miss friendly game against Crystal Palace

Alisson Becker‘s condition has been updated, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, after the Brazilian ‘felt something’ during preseason training.

Calvin Ramsay, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Diogo Jota are already recovering from their injuries while the Reds are on tour in the Far East.

According to statements made by Klopp and quoted by The Athletic, Alisson, who Klopp has labeled the finest goalkeeper in the world, missed the most recent practice because he “felt something” during the warm-up.

“Ali was not 100 percent earlier,” said the Liverpool boss. “He felt something while warming up so again we will have to see.” Klopp also confirmed that Diogo Jota injured himself too, suffering a reoccurrence of the hamstring injury that he suffered whilst on international duty in June.

“Diogo, unlucky eh? He had an injury from the end of last season, he trained fully yesterday but got injured again,” he said. “That’s really not cool. Now we have to wait for the results. He had an assessment this morning so we will have to see. It’s in the same area.”

The two are big blows for Liverpool in their preparations for the new season, but Klopp did provide solace that the rest of the squad is in good condition.

“I think pretty much all the others are fine. It’s the period of the year when we have to be really careful,” said the manager.

Klopp will now be forced to turn to alternatives to feature in goal for Liverpool against Crystal Palace.

Adrian, a 35-year-old goalkeeper, is probably going to get the nod, but England Under-19 keeper Harvey Davies will also be in the running.

Darwin Nunez will probably be included right away as well.

Tuesday’s match between the Reds and Manchester United ended in a loss for the Reds as the Red Devils defeated a young Liverpool team 4-0.

Only eight senior players are available for Crystal Palace‘s match against Liverpool, thus it will probably be simpler for Liverpool to insert some of their rotating players into the match.
