Hassan Shehata, the former Egypt coach, claimed that Mohamed Salah “contributed nothing to the national team” as he grieved his departure from the national squad.
Between 2006 and 2010, Shehata guided his country to three consecutive Africa Cup of Nations victories, a record that currently stands. Despite this, the country has failed to qualify for the last six tournaments, losing in the finals in 2017 and 2021. Both of those defeats were witnessed by Liverpool‘s Mohamed Salah.
Cameroon stopped them five years ago, and Sadio Mane‘s Senegal stopped them more recently, so Salah remains without an international crown. At Anfield, he’s had a fantastic career, winning domestic and European titles as well as individual honors.
As a result, Shehata has questioned Salah’s accomplishments, as well as the appointment of current boss Carlos Queiroz, who was appointed because of a link to Salah.
