Following a successful summer transfer window this year, Bayern Munich has begun planning for next summer. The Bavarian club expects a quiet winter transfer window, but they will be looking for a top-quality number nine next year.
In recent months, Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane has been widely linked with a move to Bayern Munich. The English striker has had a promising start to the season. Die Roten is said to have undertaken preliminary conversations with the forward through middlemen. The Bavarian club reportedly advised Kane to avoid contract talks with Tottenham if he is interested in coming to Munich. Die Roten’s wish appears to have been partially granted.
According to Evening Standard, Harry Kane has put contract talks on hold with Spurs until the World Cup. The English forward is currently focussing on the World Cup, but Spurs are eager to extend his contract as soon as possible. Kane will enter the final year of his current deal in North London next summer.
Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic praised Kane in his recent interview with Bild but refused to talk further about the club’s interest in the forward. Spurs are tough negotiators, so publicly expressing interest in their interest will be a step in the wrong direction.
The Bavarian club will stand a chance of signing Kane next summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal. Spurs will still demand a significant fee for Kane next summer, but it could be well within Die Roten’s budget for the summer. The rumors will intensify if Kane refuses to negotiate a new deal with Spurs even after the World Cup.
Kane may not fit the age profile of the squad, but he can definitely lead the attack for the next three to four years at Bayern. The English forward has been one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe over the last five seasons. Apart from scoring goals, Kane also has an expansive passing range, and his link-up play in the final third is immaculate.
Bayern is not solely focused on Kane for the number nine position, but he appears to be the first priority. Aside from Kane, Die Roten is keeping an eye on Marcus Thuram’s position at Borussia Monchengladbach. In the upcoming summer transfer window, the French striker will be available on a free transfer.
Eric Maxim Choupo-contract Moting’s is also set to be extended by the Bavarian club. This season, the Cameroon international has been in excellent form with Die Roten. Despite the likely entrance of a new striker, he may wind up with a short-term contract and continue to be a dangerous option in the attack.
