Pulisic tip to join Newcastle United as £58m World Cup hero set to leave Stamford Bridge

According to journalist Dean Jones, Newcastle United would be an “ideal destination” for Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic to “find his feet again.”

Due to a lack of playing time, the 24-year-old has been linked with a transfer away from west London in recent months, and the Magpies are thought to be among his possible suitors.

The Athletic reported in August that Chelsea had denied Pulisic permission to explore loan moves to Manchester United, Newcastle, and clubs in Italy and Spain.

According to reports, the USA international was willing to extend his £150,000-per-week deal, which expires in the summer of 2024, to make a temporary exit more appealing to the Blues.

Despite talks with new owner Todd Boehly about Pulisic’s desire to leave, the Chelsea hierarchy decided to keep him at the club.

And, according to a recent Daily Mail article, creative talent is unlikely to be allowed to leave the capital club on loan when the market reopens in January.

Manchester United and Newcastle are both said to be interested in Pulisic, and Arsenal, another Premier League club, is also said to be interested.

Jones believes that a move to St James’ Park would assist Pulisic, but that any speculation of a move is premature.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “For him personally, I think it would be a good destination too, I guess, find his feet again, but we’re a little way off that happening at the moment.

“And we’re going to have to see how the next few weeks play out first at the World Cup and then in terms of Newcastle actually getting their transfer strategy in place.”

Pulisic has struggled to show his true potential on a consistent basis since making a £58 million switch to Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund

While this, the skilled winger has nevertheless produced 26 goals and 21 assists in 133 appearances for Graham Potter’s charges, despite spending most of his time on the bench.

Pulisic is also thriving with his national team at the World Cup, giving an assist in the USA’s 1-1 draw with Wales before scoring the game-winning goal against Iran last time out.

However, he sustained a probable injury in that encounter and will be aiming to be fully healthy for their last 16 matches against the Netherlands.
