The Manchester City midfielder has retained the award after another season in which he has established himself as one of the country’s most gifted youths.
Foden has matched his tally from 2020/21 with nine goals and five assists, and his good form was enough to beat out England teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mason Mount, Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and Crystal Palace duo Conor Gallagher and Tyrick Mitchell in the fan poll.
Foden commented, “I am really delighted to have earned this award for the second season in a row.”
“There are so many outstanding young players in the Premier League this season, and winning it again is a true honor.”
“I’ve been quite pleased with my efforts this season, and it’s been nice to contribute to this club in what we all hope will be another successful year.”
“It’s an honor to be nominated with so many excellent players who have all had outstanding seasons for their clubs.”
“I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped me grow this season.”
Foden has been similarly important in City’s effort to win back-to-back league titles in 2021/22. He was a key player in City’s league triumph last season.
His influence has grown, and his adaptability has been vital, as he has performed admirably on both flanks, as a false nine, and in midfield.
The Academy graduate‘s playmaking abilities have been supplemented by his tireless work rate, and he has made significant contributions throughout the season, scoring crucial winners against Brentford and Everton, as well as scoring in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield in October.
Everyone at Manchester City congratulates Phil on another well-deserved award and a fantastic season.
