Newcastle United running £150,00 campaign in hospitals to help the needy

Players from Newcastle United’s men’s and women’s teams visited hospitals in the city on Wednesday, as part of the club’s A Helping Hand at Christmas campaign.

The club and the Newcastle United Foundation will collaborate with city partners to complete a series of pledges, including a £150,00 donation to the Newcastle West End Foodbank, the opening of the NEWCASTLE building as a free, warm safe space for the community, and a volunteer scheme in which employees will donate thousands of hours of their time.

After being forced to take a pause in recent years owing to the Covid-19 epidemic, United stars returned to Newcastle RVI and the Freeman Hospital this year to meet sick children and spend time with colleagues during a tough time for many NHS personnel.

Allan Saint-Maximin, Joelinton, and Sven Botman were joined by Newcastle United Women players Georgia Gibson, Katie Barker, and Kacie Elson to distribute gifts, pose for photos, and interact with patients, many of whom will spend the holiday season in the hospital or getting care.

And invited along to capture some of the special moments was club photographer Serena Taylor, who brought nufc.co.uk to this gallery. Look out for a video and interviews on NUFC TV on Thursday.
