The Sun reported Greater Manchester Police is aware of the alleged purchase and is looking into claims that it might constitute a breach of the 21-year-old’s bail conditions. A source told the Sun on Sunday Greenwood had not placed the order.

Greenwood has not responded to the allegations of a breach..

It comes following accusations that Greenwood broke the terms of his bail last month after being allegedly spotted with the victim – who is due to give evidence at the player’s trial next year – in his car.

Greenwood last appeared publicly in Manchester Crown Court last week for a preliminary trial hearing, which will begin on November 27, 2023.

The United footballer remains suspended from the club following his arrest back in January after images and audio were shared on social media. He was also questioned by police over threats to kill.

He was then released on bail but was detained again last month after being photographed with his alleged victim in violation of his terms. He was held in custody after appearing before Manchester magistrates on October 17 but was released two days later after a private bail hearing.

The attempted rape is alleged to have occurred in October 2021, while his charges of controlling and coercive behavior are alleged to have occurred between November 2018 and October this year, during which time he is accused of making threatening and derogatory comments to the complainant, as well as accessing and monitoring her social media accounts.

The charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm relates to an alleged offense in December 2021.
