Manchester United is planning a surprise approach for Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski

According to The Sun, Manchester United is ready to make a surprise play for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski if Barcelona is unable to complete a deal this summer.

As he approaches his 34th birthday, the Poland international shows no signs of slowing down. Last season, he scored 50 goals in only 46 games for Bayern Munich.

As a result, it’s no wonder that he’s receiving a lot of attention. Lewandowski wants to join Barcelona this summer, but a deal appears improbable for the time being.

Bayern Munich could reportedly sell him for £20 million with a year left on his contract, but the Blaugrana have a number of financial difficulties and need to dispose of several elite players before making new signings.

United are apparently willing to exploit their flaws in the hope of luring Lewandowski in a similar manner to Cristiano Ronaldo. They may offer him a weekly salary of £400,000.

Our opinion: Ronaldo had a fantastic homecoming season with Manchester United last season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions. The Player of the Year award was given to the Portugal international for his performances.

The focus will now shift to increasing front-end competition. Next season, new manager Erik ten Hag might think about combining Ronaldo with another world-class attacker.

Despite the fact that he is towards the end of his career, Lewandowski has only improved with age and would be an excellent signing. United would become instant favorites to finish in the top four.

According to reports, the Pole’s family includes several Manchester United supporters, some of whom have worked in the city. It remains to be seen whether it will be enough to persuade him to join.

United’s loss of Champions League football is a setback, but the club still has a strong international reputation. Before retiring, Lewandowski may be tempted to prove himself in the Premier League.

Chelsea, who are also looking for a new striker, might be United’s major league rivals. However, the Blues may need to sell Romelu Lukaku first, and Lewandowski’s high salary may deter them.
