After Manchester United confirmed his exit, the French midfielder broke his silence.
The Premier League team announced that the 29-year-old French midfielder would leave when his contract ends at the end of June. The announcement had been predicted for some time, and reports claim he will return to his previous club Juventus on a free transfer, having first left Old Trafford for Turin in 2012.
Pogba returned to United in the summer of 2016 for a then-world-record £89 million deal, but he failed to live up to expectations, winning only the EFL Cup and Europa League during his second spell. He appeared in 233 games for United over his two stints with the club.
On Tuesday afternoon, Pogba posted on Instagram, “I feel honored to have played for this club.” “Many great moments and memories, but most importantly, the fans’ unwavering support.” Manchester United, thank you.”
Pogba sent an emotional statement only hours after United revealed his exit. “Paul Pogba will depart Manchester United at the end of June when his contract expires,” the club announced. “The Frenchman has a lengthy history with United, having joined the club’s Academy at the age of 16 from Le Havre.”
“It was a low-key finale to a United career that had brought so many individual high moments, so many magnificent goals, assists, and pieces of skill,” United continued.
“However, for a 16-year-old to make over 200 United appearances and win the Youth Cup, as well as two big trophies – not to mention the World Cup on an international level – is something to be commended and appreciated.”
“Everyone at Manchester United wishes to congratulate Paul on his illustrious career and thank him for his efforts to the club.” We wish him the best of luck on the next leg of his incredible adventure.”
