Barcelona can humiliate Manchester United following Jorge Mendes‘ visit to Wolves.
Ruben Neves of Wolverhampton Wanderers might find himself at the center of a transfer battle between Manchester United and Barcelona.
That is if United is unable to sign top target Frenkie de Jong, who is said to be unwilling to join the Premier League club this summer. Former Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has stated that de Jong “wants to stay” with the La Liga giants, and rumors in Spain indicate that the Netherlands international prefers to stay in Catalonia rather than reconnect with his ex-Ajax manager Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
If United fail to complete a move for de Jong, they could turn their attention to Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves. The latest reports on Man Utd’s interest in Neves suggest that ten Hag views the 25-year-old as an alternative option to de Jong and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano claims that the midfielder is admired at Old Trafford.
Everton and Nottingham Forest are two interested clubs, and the Toffees are set to test Wolves’ resolve over Gibbs-White, whose stock has risen considerably in the last 12 months. The 22-year-old has just two years left on his contract and if Bruno Lage can’t guarantee the midfielder enough game time next season, it is unlikely that he’ll commit to staying for the long term.
Gibbs-White chipped in with 22 goal contributions while on loan at Sheffield United last season, including 12 goals and 10 assists. It is thought that Everton’s strong interest is being driven by sporting director Kevin Thelwell, formerly of Wolves, and ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson thinks he would be a solid addition to Frank Lampard‘s squad.
