Manchester United forward has decided to return to pre-season training early

Alejandro Garnacho, a forward for Manchester United, may have been eligible for a three-week holiday after representing his country, but he has chosen to return to pre-season training early.

The highly regarded adolescent, who turns 18 on Friday, last appeared for Argentina’s U20 team on June 10 when they defeated Japan in the fifth-place playoff game at the Toulon Tournament.

As a result, he was offered the choice of taking an extended sabbatical, but the 17-year-old is obviously eager to win over new boss Erik ten Hag before the upcoming season.

According to The Mirror, Ten Hag has already informed top personnel at Old Trafford that he aims to advance Garnacho’s career at United. Ten Hag oversaw his first training session at Carrington on Monday.

The Argentine, who joined from Spanish team Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2020, has had a year to remember.

Prior to Argentina’s World Cup qualifying matches against Venezuela and Ecuador earlier this year, he received an unexpected call-up to the 44-man squad.

And in April, after a standout season with the minor squad, he entered the game late to make his Manchester United debut against Chelsea in the Premier League.

Garnacho not only scored in a 3-0 victory over Wolves to enable Manchester United to advance to a record FA Youth Cup final, but he also scored twice against Nottingham Forest as they won the cup in front of 60,000 spectators.
