Manchester United has set a €30 million price tag on Harry Maguire, indicating that the club is eager to part ways with the troubled defender.
According to Fichajes, Harry Maguire might leave Manchester United, but any interested party would have to pay at least €30 million to do so. The troubled English defender has lost his starting spot and has dropped significantly in the pecking order.
Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Manchester United has reduced Harry Maguire’s demand even further, as the Dutch manager brought Lisandro Martinez with him from Ajax. And the Argentine has been a constant in the Red Devils’ backline alongside Raphael Varane.
Victor Lindelof also seems to be ahead in the selection order as the manager has opted to use the Swede whenever an emergency occurred this season. It is suggested Maguire will vow to stay and fight for his place. But if the current situation remains he also might have to rethink his future.
In the midst of his uncertain future and with Manchester United considering his sale, the 29-year-old has received backing from England head coach Gareth Southgate, who still finds the player worthy of being his pillar of backbone.
Southgate has named Maguire in England’s World Cup squad, and the player will be one of the first names on his team sheet in Qatar. A good show in Qatar might convince ten Hag to test the player even more after the resumption of the top-flight league in December.
Manchester United paid a world record price to Leicester City in 2019. But since then, Maguire has not really been able to command his authority for the Red Devils. Manchester United are aware of his potential and would not be able to gain a major profit as it stands.
