Manchester City XI vs Nottingham Forest: as Haaland and Phill Foden lead the front line

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, may be tempted to rest Erling Haaland against Nottingham Forest.

The new star striker has had an immediate impact in the Premier League, hitting six goals in his first four games to take the early lead in the Golden Boot race.

However, with only four days between games and the Champions League beginning next week, Guardiola may consider the visit of the newly promoted squad as an opportunity to pull Haaland out of the spotlight.

In this case, fellow summer signing Julian Alvarez is poised to step up. Following a knee injury, Jack Grealish is also aiming for a return to the squad, while Riyad Mahrez will be hoping to keep his spot after a sluggish start to the season.

Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake are still sidelined.

Predicted Man City XI: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Stones, Cancelo; Rodri Gundogan, De Bruyne; Foden, Bernardo, Haaland
