Manchester City is asking €30 million for Juventus teenager Nicol Rovella, who is currently on loan at Monza.
According to journalist Massimo Pavan, City are interested in the 21-year-old and is eager to assist Juventus in recouping their investment.
Rovella joined Juventus from Genoa in January 2021 for €26 million but was loaned back to the club for a year before joining Monza in August.
He’s been a regular for them this season, starting nine of their 13 Serie A games and getting the regular minutes he needs to progress.
Manchester City appears to have taken note, as they are now willing to spend big to get him out of Turin permanently.
That’s according to Pavan, who discusses the club’s interest in the player with an opinion piece on the Italian giants’ present crisis.
They’ve been under fire for a series of agreements made by the board, which resigned last week amid questions about the valuations placed on players in several transfer deals.
There has been talking of dodgy dealings, leading to all of Juventus’ deals over the last few years being scrutinized and questioned.
Rovella is one of them but according to Pavan, it shouldn’t be, given Manchester City are currently willing to pay €30m to secure the player’s signature.
“In short, concessions exist in the market; this is not to mean that they are illegal or that there is any wrongdoing,” he says on Tutto Juve.
“If Iling Junior was worth x before the start of the season, Juventus could put him on the balance sheet for 3 for example, but now he is worth 15, who could stop the club from putting him on the balance sheet for 15 thinking about his improvement?”
“This is referred to as a commercial risk; a club like Juventus took risks; Rovella for €30m appeared to be a risk; today, Manchester City offers more or less that much to acquire him; who was correct?”
“Anyone who doesn’t comprehend that is an idiot, and there are a lot of them around.”
