Manchester United’s move for Ajax forward Antony could be completed this week for a figure of around €97m.
That’s according to journalist Valentijn Driessen, who believes Ajax will be hard pushed to reject such an offer for the Brazilian.
United is once again pushing for the forward this week after being linked with him earlier this summer.
Their interest had dwindled but the disappointing defeats to Brighton and Brentford have reenergized their transfer efforts and after securing Casemiro Manchester United has turned their attention to his compatriot.
Ajax is reluctant to sell and has already rejected a bid believed to be worth around €80m for their star man.
It’s believed they are holding out for €100m plus, a figure it appears Manchester United is willing to pay to reunite Erik ten Hag with his former player.
And according to Driessen, a deal could be completed this week, and the player could travel to England ‘as early as Wednesday.’
“I think it will be completed this week,” Voetbal Primeur report him saying to Vandaag Inside.
“I heard an amount of 97 million euros, so just under one hundred. Ajax will have to agree to that.
“He (Ten Hag) wants Antony and Gakpo. They have also offered 135 million for João Felix, that’s a bit of the budget they have.
“And besides that, they also want Frenkie de Jong. They certainly haven’t written him off yet.”
