Jurgen Klopp lists out four worst Liverpool players after Leeds Utd’s defeat

Liverpool was defeated 2-1 at home by Leeds on Saturday, dropping them to the ninth position in the Premier League.

Liverpool experienced yet another setback as they were defeated 2-1 at home by Leeds on Saturday. The visitors seized the lead early on, thanks to an incredible Joe Gomez backpass that allowed Rodrigo Moreno to tap home into an empty net.

Soon after, Mohamed Salah scored from an Andy Robertson cross to give Liverpool the lead. After an equal second half, the Whites scored a late winner as Crysencio Summerville sent the away end into a frenzy.

Here, Express Sport picks out four of the worst Liverpool performers on the night at Anfield…

Joe Gomez

How far Gomez’s stock has fallen? The England international, who once formed such a strong partnership with Virgil van Dijk, was all over the place again tonight, and it was his abysmal back pass that allowed the hosts to take the lead and set the scene for what was to come.

At this rate, Klopp just cannot afford to keep selecting the center-back, and it will be intriguing to see if he starts the next Premier League match against Tottenham.

Darwin Nunez

Nunez seems to be either hit or miss in every game he plays at the moment. And tonight was certainly not a match he will want to remember. The Uruguayan forward squandered a huge opportunity to give his side the lead in the second half when he was one-on-one with Illan Meslier and was wasteful on a number of other occasions too.

He simply has to get more clinical if he is to shine at this level.

Virgil van Dijk

Just like Gomez, Van Dijk simply seems to have dropped a few levels this season. The Dutchman was guilty of ball-watching for Leeds’ winner and looks nothing like the formidable force he once was. He needs to do some soul-searching to find out just what is going wrong.

Jordan Henderson

Henderson demonstrated why many now consider him past his prime despite only playing 30 minutes as a replacement for Fabinho. The 32-year-old was off the pace and also blew a late chance for the Reds to equalize when he blasted a shot high and wide to the delight of Leeds.
