James Maddison sends six-word message to fans as he returns fully to face Wales

Latest Leicester City news: England midfielder James Maddison returns to training at the World Cup in Qatar and shares on social media.

After returning to training, Leicester City and England midfielder James Maddison shared a message on social media.

Maddison returned to on-field training for the first time since missing out on a spot in the matchday squads against Iran and the United States last Wednesday. He is yet to play for the Three Lions after suffering a knee injury in City’s pre-tournament triumph over West Ham.

James Maddison returns to England training ahead of crucial clash against Wales

After spending some training sessions working indoors to manage his workload, Maddison is now back on the pitch and could feature against Wales on Tuesday. He is unlikely to go straight into the starting XI but could make an impact from the bench.

Taking to Twitter after training on Saturday, Maddison eased any worries supporters had over the condition of his knee. “Back at it & feeling good,” he wrote, with a grinning face emoji.

There has been much debate about who should start in the attacking areas for England, with many disappointed that Gareth Southgate has not given Phil Foden a single minute of playing time thus far in the tournament.

Mason Mount is expected to start both games, with Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford coming off the bench. Given Southgate’s firm decisions, it will be difficult for Maddison to gain a place in the team, but it is a task he will undoubtedly strive to meet.
