The Glazers back Erik ten Hag in pursuit to sign £22m super striker January

The Glazers, who own Manchester United, can replace Cristiano Ronaldo for a pittance of £22 million.

Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United is not guaranteed to be at the club at the end of the January transfer window.

Back in the summer, Manchester United was heavily linked with a move for Memphis Depay. Ultimately, a transfer for their former No 7 failed to materialize with the forward remaining at the Nou Camp, despite Barcelona’s willingness to let him loose. However, with Cristiano Ronaldo unhappy at Old Trafford, the prospect of bringing the Netherlands international back to the Premier League could be one for the Glazers to take action on

Manchester United denied Ronaldo his wish of a move away back in the summer, with the 37-year-old forced to stay despite links to the likes of Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, and Atletico Madrid.

Since then, however, the Portugal international’s status at Old Trafford has only diminished.

Ronaldo scored 24 goals across all competitions for United last term but, with just under a third of the current campaign, has a mere two goals to his name.

He’s been in the spotlight of late ever since refusing to come on in his side’s 2-0 win over Tottenham last Wednesday, with the veteran storming down the tunnel instead.

Ronaldo has started just twice for United in the Premier League, with the Red Devils failing to win either game against Brentford and Brighton

And it’s looking increasingly likely that his second spell at the club won’t be anywhere near as successful as his first when he propelled United to trophies aplenty under Sir Alex Ferguson.
