According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are really confident’ of signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Erik ten Hag’s demand for reinforcements to be signed with 18 days left in the summer transfer window has likely skyrocketed following yesterday’s 4-0 annihilation at the hands of Brentford.
The former Ajax manager would have probably hoped that the France international didn’t watch the Red Devils’ chastening evening in west London.
If the former Paris Saint Germain had watched United’s mauling against Thomas Frank’s Bees it would have been more than understandable if he opted against moving to Old Trafford such is the chaos and shambles he looks set to join.
According to Romano, Manchester United want to push for Rabiot as new round of talks will take place soon with Veronique.
But the transfer guru claimed that all parties involved in the deal are now ‘really confident’ to get the deal done.
According to the Mail, Murtough will hold further talks with Rabiot’s mother on Monday over a £15m move.
With negotiations between Manchester United and Veronique continuing it’s highly unlikely that the 27-year-old will feature in Juventus’ Serie A opener at home against Sassuolo on Monday night.
With eight days until Manchester United’s next match which is an ominous clash against fierce rivals Liverpool – Ten Hag will be hoping the club makes progress on new signings this week.
The sooner the likes of Rabiot are brought into the club – the quicker they’ll be able to integrate with a disillusioned and a seemingly confidence-drained squad.
Rabiot isn’t the type of signing that will transform Manchester United’s fortunes, but on yesterday’s evidence this squad needs all the help it can get right now.
