Fenway Sports Group has set its sights on enticing Bellingham to Liverpool as a leaving present, according to Spanish sources through FourFourTwo.
According to the article, the Merseyside giants have long admired the central midfielder, and the club’s owners, who placed the Reds up for sale last week, are hoping to win the race for his services.
Liverpool is believed to be quite bullish about completing a deal with Dortmund in 2023, with Bellingham highlighted as Klopp’s top target, although Manchester United and Manchester City are also in the running.
Real Madrid is also interested in signing the 19-year-old, but it has been revealed that Bellingham is not keen on joining Chelsea despite co-owner Todd Boehly initiating talks with his father and agent.
Romano understands that Liverpool is among a number of clubs vying for Bellingham and remains hopeful of fighting off stiff competition.
The respected Italian journalist is aware that the Reds have been holding discussions with people close to the teenager as they look to gain an advantage over his fellow suitors.
Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “Liverpool will be in the race, 100 percent.
“They’re already in contact with people close to Jude Bellingham, so Liverpool will be there.”
One thing is certain: Bellingham, who has been chosen by England manager Gareth Southgate for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, will not be cheap.
Dortmund is thought to value the former Birmingham City man at £131 million, making him the most expensive signing in British football history if their demands are met.
Bellingham’s £49,000-per-week contract is not set to expire until the summer of 2025, so the German titans have no incentive to alter their financial expectations.
Fenway Sports Group will have to dig deep if they want to end their Liverpool reign by luring the 17-cap sensation to Anfield.
