Cristiano Ronaldo breaks silence after Man Utd finally announced contract termination

Cristiano Ronaldo made a statement after Manchester United confirmed that the striker’s contract had been terminated early.

Ronaldo effectively severed connections with United by speaking with Piers Morgan and said he felt “betrayed” by the club. Following the shocking interview, United investigated their legal options and reported on Tuesday evening that the 37-year-old had been freed early.

The club confirmed in a statement, “Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to leave Manchester United with immediate effect.”

“The club wishes him and his family well for the future and appreciates him for his enormous contribution throughout two spells at Old Trafford, netting 145 goals in 346 matches.”

“Everyone at Manchester United is committed to continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and to working together to achieve success on the field.”

In response, Ronaldo said: “Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early.

“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge.

“I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.”

Ronaldo’s relationship with Manchester United has been difficult all season, since since he attempted to force a move away from the club in the summer. He later refused to come off the bench for Tottenham, which strained his friendship with Erik ten Hag.

Things came to a head when he agreed to tell his story to Morgan on Talk TV. “People should listen to the truth,” he said. “Yes, I feel betrayed and I feel that some people don’t want me here, not only this year but last year, too.”

Ronaldo was also hugely critical of the club, Ten Hag, and former players like Wayne Rooney during his explosive interview.

“When comparing Manchester to that club right now, I believe it is lagging behind, which astonished me.” “He stated. “In my perspective, a club of this size should be at the top of the tree, but they aren’t. They do not belong at that level. But I am hopeful that in the coming years they will be able to compete at the highest level.”
