Following Marina Granovskaia‘s departure, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is in charge of the club’s transfer activities. The American is hoping to make Raheem Sterling of Man City his first signature acquisition.

Raheem Sterling has made his first step toward Chelsea, and a deal might be finalized this week.

Blues owner Todd Boelhy personally intervened to call Manchester City, and a formal offer is now almost set to come next. Manchester City may be willing to sell for roughly £55 million, and it is said that negotiations with Sterling have been very open and cordial, suggesting that a deal may be completed shortly.

The 27-year-old English star Sterling still has one year left on his £300,000-per-week deal with City, and his decision to leave City is solely motivated by his desire for greater playing time. That has made Chelsea aware, and Thomas Tuchel is very interested. He has already explained Sterling’s role in his plans and his vision to Chelsea.

Although personal terms have not yet been decided, Chelsea will now make a counteroffer. If the offer is good, City won’t stand in the way of the player.

With an England international going between two Premier League rivals, it would be one of the biggest transactions of the summer, but it also signifies a rebuild for both clubs with City adding Erling Haaland and Calvin Phillips.

In addition, Chelsea will continue to spend since Matthijs De Ligt is eager to join them at Stamford Bridge. One of the reasons Juventus is willing to let the 22-year-old Dutch defender go for roughly £70 million is because of his salary of around £200,000 per week and his current contract.

Following a massive employee exodus, Boelhy is now directly managing a large portion of the company. Technical and Performance Advisor Petr Cech is the most recent resignation, followed by chairman Bruce Buck and transfer negotiator Marina Granovskaia.
