Bayern Munich has identified Malo Gusto as perfect Benjamin Pavard replacement

Bayern Munich is keeping an eye on the status of a promising full-back in Lyon.

The scouting department and Hasan Salihamidzic will utilize the World Cup break to begin planning Bayern Munich’s summer transfer window. Die Roten is anticipated to prioritize signing a strong striker next summer, but they may have to look elsewhere for a right-back.

While speaking to the media in recent weeks, Benjamin Pavard has hinted at a summer departure from Bayern. The French defender is willing to leave the Bundesliga if another elite club offers him regular playing time in the center of defense.

Die Roten has no intention of selling Pavard during the winter season. If he refuses to sign a new contract, they will have to start looking for his replacement. To replace Pavard, Bayern Munich may aim to sign a young right-back.

Bayern Munich is keeping a close eye on Malo Gusto’s position at Lyon, according to Foot Mercato (via Fussball Transfers). Lyon may have to sell the young French defender in the summer because his contract expires in less than 18 months. Real Madrid, like Die Roten, is keeping a careful eye on Gusto’s progress.

Gusto is considered one of the most promising young full-backs in Europe. The French defender features regularly in the first team at Lyon. He can contribute at both ends of the pitch, so the teenager can potentially become a very well-rounded full-back. Several clubs will show interest in him in the summer if he doesn’t sign a renewal at Lyon.

Pavard has largely played in the right-back position for Bayern, so it makes sense to replace him with a right-back. Noussair Mazraoui is likely to be the first choice option for Die Roten as he continues to get better under Julian Nagelsmann with each passing week. The new right-back is likely to be a backup to the Moroccan defender

If Bayern does not have a budget for the right-back position this summer, Josip Stanisic and Joshua Kimmich can be cycled in for a season or so. The right-back position will become clearer in the coming months. As things stand, Pavard is more likely to leave, thus plans are being made to find him a suitable replacement. Gusto has the potential to be a very solid long-term solution for Bayern in this position, so a summer move for him makes a lot of sense.
