According to Foot Mercato, Arsenal is highly confident in acquiring Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City.
Nuno Tavares’ underwhelming debut season has the Gunners searching for a new left-back to challenge Kieran Tierney this summer.
Alejandro Grimaldo and other names have lately been mentioned, but Zinchenko now seems to be Mikel Arteta’s primary choice for a left-back, according to numerous reports that indicate Arsenal is in talks with Man City.
According to Foot Mercato, Arsenal is ‘very confident’ of landing his services, and will accelerate negotiations in the coming hours to finalize a transfer agreement.
The Telegraph is also reporting that Arsenal is pushing to get a deal agreed for Zinchenko with the final fee expected to be worth at least £30m.
The Gunners have already done business with City this summer with the purchase of Gabriel Jesus. Talks are now advancing ‘very positively’ over Zinchenko.
This summer, Arsenal has been connected to a variety of left-backs, but Zinchenko might be the best choice given his extensive Premier League experience with City.
Naturally, he will cost a premium of about £30 million, but given that he can also play in midfield, adding him would be worthwhile.
Zinchenko has primarily played as a center or attacking midfielder for Ukraine during his career, and he has been able to contribute to a number of significant goals.
Zinchenko is a guy who might give Arsenal a solution for two places. Arsenal is also looking for a creative player in the middle of the park.
