Another Man Utd star to follow Ronaldo out of Man Utd despite Ten Hag counting on him

Diogo Dalot has apparently been pushed further away from Manchester United after Cristiano Ronaldo left the club last month.

Ronaldo eventually got what he wanted last month when the Red Devils mutually decided to terminate his contract after allegations that he was seeking to leave Old Trafford all summer.

Man United was no longer as appealing to Ronaldo without Champions League football, and his contentious interview with Piers Morgan was the final straw for the Red Devils’ management.

The interview came just weeks after Ronaldo was punished and forced to practice alone after refusing to come off the bench in their 2-0 Premier League triumph against Tottenham.

He was welcomed back into the fold the next week, but in his 90-minute diatribe to Morgan, he chose to criticize the club, Man United boss Erik ten Hag, senior officials, and others.

And, according to Sport (via Sport Witness), Barcelona now has a higher chance of tempting Ronaldo’s international teammate Dalot to La Liga in the coming transfer windows.

Dalot’s contract expires in the summer transfer window, but Manchester United is quite likely to activate the one-year extension in that deal, with Erik ten Hag “depending on him.”

There is the possibility of a ‘broader renewal’ while another option would be to ‘consider a transfer’ with Barcelona very interested in the right-back’s services.

Dalot has been on the Catalan giants’ radar ‘for some time and Sport insists that Dalot could welcome a change of scenery, especially now Ronaldo has gone.

The 23-year-old was one of Ronaldo’s ‘main allies’ at the club and they claim that Dalot’s compatriot could’ve been ‘key’ to encouraging him to stay at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag claims that Ronaldo “never told” him that he wanted to leave Man Utd and that he still wanted him to stay.

Speaking to the press over the weekend, Ten Hag said: “I have seen most of it. I have to do it. It is part of my job.

“As a club, I believe you cannot accept the interview.” He was aware of the consequences of taking such a step. But he never told me before. Until that point, he had never said, ‘I want to leave.’

“He scored 24 goals last year,” Ten Hag remarked. What does this team require? We require objectives.

“I prefer to collaborate with world-class players.” I know they can make a difference and assist you in reaching your goals.

“I wanted him to stay from the beginning until now.” I went to great lengths to recruit him into the team because I value his abilities. We wanted him to be a part of our mission and to contribute to Manchester United because he is a fantastic player with a fantastic career.
