In January, Leicester City is allegedly interested in signing Angers central midfielder Azzedine Ounahi.
The 22-year-old has been a revelation for Morocco at the World Cup, contributing to the team’s outstanding campaign thus far. His form has piqued the interest of clubs throughout Europe, including Sevilla and Barcelona.
Leicester is prepared to bid “as high as €45m (£39m),” according to French source L’Equipe, but the club has “yet to receive a firm offer,” however bids are “anticipated to come in imminently.”
Angers are now bottom of Ligue 1 and it looks doubtful that they would reject the rich offer for the player. L’Equipe believes the Moroccan, who has been at the club for just over a year, could go.
Meanwhile, Angers president Said Chabane has confessed that keeping the 22-year-old will be difficult. “We are prepared for anything. We met with the coach and the athletic coordinator to go over all of the probable scenarios “He stated. “You know we can’t keep a player that wants to leave.”
Leicester is eager to add fresh players in the new year, but they may face stiff competition to get Ounahi. He is expected to play for Morocco in the World Cup semi-final against France on Wednesday night, with the goal of meeting Argentina in the final.
