Liverpool set to hijack Manchester United’s £69m transfer target

According to rumors, Liverpool has spoken with Manchester United target Antony.

The Reds have already recruited Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho to their attacking lineup, but a third attacker is apparently on their shopping list.

According to Yahoo Esportes, Antony has scored 20 goals in 72 games for the club and Ajax is seeking £69 million in exchange for him. United is reportedly unwilling to pay the asking price, which creates an opening for Liverpool to pounce.

Antony enjoyed a successful period at Ajax under new United manager Erik ten Hag, and the 52-year-old is interested in reuniting with the forward at Old Trafford.

But despite the signings of Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen, United has been slow in the transfer market and wants Ajax to lower its valuation.

After holding talks with both Ajax and Antony’s agent, Liverpool could persuade the Amsterdam-based club to accept an offer as low as £59million for the 22-year-old.

ten Hag has seemingly responded by urging officials at United to make a move quickly.

After holding talks with both Ajax and Antony’s agent, Liverpool could persuade the Amsterdam-based club to accept an offer as low as £59million for the 22-year-old. Sao Paulo, Antony’s former team, is keeping a keen eye on the progress with the Brazilian side reportedly owed 20% of any fee.

Christian Eriksen, a former midfielder for Tottenham, has signed a three-year contract with United, who officially announced his signing this afternoon.

This comes after ten Hag stated that Cristiano Ronaldo is a part of his future plans after the Portuguese star turned down the opportunity to join an undisclosed Saudi Arabian club, where he would have become the highest-paid player in the world.

In their most recent preseason game, United earlier today trounced Melbourne Victory 4-1.

Ten Hag appears to have replied by advising United authorities to act immediately.
