According to Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo, Diogo Jota‘s injury setback occurred during a preseason training session for Liverpool.
The Portuguese star appears to have experienced a similar ailment to his hamstring from earlier this summer. If the tests reveal negative results, this would be a serious setback for the Reds.
An injury in that area can force a player to sit out for several weeks if it is believed to be serious. Hopefully, that is not the case with Jota.
The Reds were handed a 4-0 defeat by an oddly motivated Erik ten Hag who fielded a considerably strong Manchester United team on paper as compared to us. Jurgen Klopp rotated his team as much as he could during the game.
Jota did not play any part in that defeat. And it seems like he would not be available to take part in the game against Crystal Palace on 15th June in Singapore.
Giving him adequate rest throughout this month would be the Reds’ best course of action in any case. We still have preseason games against RB Salzburg, RB Leipzig, and RC Strasbourg Alsace.
Another game that would serve as the campaign’s opener is the Community Shield contest against Manchester City. Fortunately for Liverpool, despite the departures of Sadio Mane, Divock Origi, and Takumi Minamino, they do not lack talented strikers.
Darwin Nunez might be included in the starting lineup right away if Jurgen Klopp is impressed, while Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah can be effective on the wings.
