According to Fabrizio Romano, Takumi Minamino was sold by Liverpool to Monaco. Of course, the transfer is as expected, and everything seems to have gone off without a hitch.
On Twitter, Romano posted, “Takumi Minamino transaction, finished.” He is moving permanently from Liverpool to AS Monaco, as Philippe Clement has just confirmed: “We’re incredibly thrilled, he was our objective.”
“Liverpool will get €15 million-plus €3 million in bonuses.”
These numbers equal about £13 million upfront and might rise to $15.5 million. That’s actually less than the rumored £17 million asking price, thus Liverpool has decreased their demands to close this deal.
After Minamino’s successful season the last time around, this seemed inevitable. The forward played a crucial role in each of Liverpool’s cup games, scoring crucial goals that helped the Reds win the EFL Cup and FA Cup.
Minamino easily defended his time with Liverpool for that reason. But it also demonstrated how talented he is.
After such a season, clubs would always try to sign the player, fully aware that the Reds had no true long-term ambitions for him. Despite Minamino’s unquestionable talent, Liverpool simply has too many talented forwards.
