Begovic is being eyed as someone who can offer cover to the under-performing David de Gea until a younger number two isn’t found by United.
If ten Hag wants the budget increased and the club is going to back him with it, it gives a big advantage to the selling club.
They know that United has billionaire owners and while the Glazer family has been unpopular at the helm, the club has never had a problem spending money.
In the last decade, they are one of the biggest spenders in the Premier League and will surely be looking to loosen the purse strings over the next few weeks.
At 35, Begovic really does not offer much of a valuation but if United are desperate to sign him, Everton can demand decent money for the player they signed last summer.
They can quickly re-enter the market and sign a veteran keeper on a one-year deal to serve as the backup to Jordan Pickford then.
It will be seen as a wise financial move to cash in on Begovic as he’s unlikely to play more than five games if the England international remains fit all season.
Everton will also need to raise funds as they’re plotting a £30million move to sign Ismaila Sarr from Watford this summer and that pursuit could be accelerated should Anthony Gordon leave for Chelsea.
