Sadio Mane has slotted in seamlessly at Bayern Munich since making the switch from Liverpool, according to teammate Alphonso Davies.
Mane has enjoyed a winning start to his Bayern career, playing his part in victories over RB Leipzig in the Supercup, and Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. The 30-year-old forward scored in his first two competitive outings and would have added to his tally this past weekend but for two offside decisions.
“Sadio Mane, you see this guy, he’s a top player and a soccer machine too,” said Davies following the Wolfsburg triumph.
“He’s hard-working, he’s fast, we try to get the ball to him as much as possible because he’s a very quick guy. So, yeah, he’s a good player, we’re happy to have him here.
“He feels good in the team and as you can see, the performances he’s been doing lately, you can only sit back and watch.”
As well as being one of seven different goalscorers for a Bayern team that has already struck 13 times across three matches this term, Mane ranks third for sprints at the club (63), behind top scorer Jamal Musiala (66) and Davies (68). He’s also in the top three for intensive runs (155) and shots on goal (six).
“Since the first day he has been at Bayern Munich, Sadio has improved the squad,” explained Bayern head coach Julian Nagelsmann prior to the Wolfsburg game.
“He’s humble, a dedicated team player. He steps back to let others shine. He never lets you feel that he’s a superstar. He’s more at the other extreme – perhaps a little bit too self-effacing for the status that he has. But that makes it really enjoyable [to work with him]. I believe that’s also the reason why he’s so well-received [by the Bayern fans].”
