4-3-3: Manchester United line-up vs Real Betis as Erik ten Hag release powerful midfield pair

On Saturday night, Manchester United will face Real Betis, just before England’s World Cup quarter-final.

United’s game against Betis will begin at 5 p.m., followed by England’s knockout match at 7 p.m.

United lost 4-2 against Cadiz in midweek, exhibiting apparent symptoms of rust by surrendering twice in the first 13 minutes.

There were some positives from the game, with United now facing a more difficult test against Betis, who are sixth in La Liga, level on points with Atletico Madrid.

Erik ten Hag has to work out whether to change up his selection or double down, hoping the players can learn from the lessons of Wednesday night, and show an improved performance with extra minutes in the bank.

Considering many of these players will be required for the Carabao Cup fixture against Burnley on December 21, Ten Hag has little choice.

He spoke after the game to say he was pleased with the youngsters who came on in the second half, even though there were some errors.

Kobbie Mainoo was praised after his display in the second half, and there could be a temptation to find a spot for him in the line-up. Most probably though, he will be back on the bench.

The one change we do anticipate is in goal, where David de Gea needs game time, and will be keen to impress in his native Spain, especially after Luis Enrique’s exit as national team boss.

De Gea practiced on Thursday after missing the game against Cadiz, and he is expected to play, especially given Dubravka‘s poor performance.

Another switch could be made at right back, where Aaron Wan-Bissaka struggled against Cadiz. His United career was already on the verge of being over, and under-21 star Marc Jurado may be given the nod instead.
