4-3-3 Lineup: Leicester City XI vs Newport as Brendan Rodgers makes three key changes

After his heroics in the shootout won City a spot in the third round, the Danish goalkeeper should be rewarded with his first competitive appearance at the King Power Stadium.

Daniel Iversen might make his home debut for Leicester City against Newport, despite manager Brendan Rodgers’ pledge not to make wholesale changes.

Iversen has never played a competitive match at the King Power Stadium, but his exploits secured City a place in the Carabao Cup third round on Tuesday night. The Dane advanced to this stage by saving three penalties in the shoot-out at Stockport.

Rodgers has shown faith in Danny Ward in the Premier League, despite his initial struggles, and that has been met with much more solid and confident performances from the Welshman. There were calls from fans for Iversen to be given a try, but he will have to settle for cup appearances for the time being

It seems unlikely that any youngsters will get a chance to play, despite plenty joining the first team in training over recent weeks. If they are to be involved, it will be from the bench. Midfielder Sammy Braybrooke and full-back Joe Wormleighton have been in matchday squads recently and would be making their first-team debuts if they were to get a chance against Newport.

City line-up (4-3-3): Iversen, Castagne, Evans, Faes, Justin; Ndidi, Tielemans, Dewsbury-Hall; Maddison, Daka, Barnes. Subs from: Ward, Amartey, Vestergaard, Brunt, Thomas, Wormleighton, Mendy, Soumare, Braybrooke, Praet, Albrighton, McAteer, Perez, Iheanacho, Vardy.
