According to reports, Phil Foden is about to sign a new contract with Manchester City that will increase his pay to £200,000 per week. Foden is an England international.
According to 90min, Foden, 21, will soon sign a new contract with his childhood club that will keep him at City through 2027. The youngster is also expected to become one of the highest-paid players on
the team, after Erling Haaland and summer addition Kevin De Bruyne.
Foden has been in discussions with City over a new contract for months, with the Premier League champions prioritizing older players whose deals run out sooner than the versatile attacker. However, the saga now looks set to be over, with the England star close to penning a long-term deal.
One of the Premier League’s most exciting players and a talent who Neil Warnock hailed as a ‘genius’, Foden is one of City’s most important figures and has been key to the club’s last two title wins in the English top-flight, with the academy graduate also winning the PFA Young Player of the Year in the past two seasons.
With Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling both leaving Manchester this summer, there’s space in the squad for Foden to become the club’s superstar attacker, with Haaland set for a year of adaptation in the Premier League following his blockbuster move to City from Borussia Dortmund.
Indeed, Foden is on course to become a legend at City, with the winger already a four-time Premier League champion, and signing this new deal until 2027 is a decision the club should have made many months ago instead of waiting this long to get the deal finalized.
The winger signing this new deal feels like the start of a new era for the attacker and a new legacy the teenager might establish in Manchester. Foden was a boyhood supporter of the club and is now perhaps England’s most exciting potential for the future.
Since the winger’s prize collection only lacks the UEFA Champions League, he has a genuine chance of leading Manchester City to European success in the upcoming seasons. And since the superstar is contracted to the club through 2027, he has a chance to become a club legend in that time frame.
