Liverpool have asked their top goalscorer to leave on a free transfer

When Mohamed Salah‘s contract expires next summer, Liverpool is said to be more concerned that he may depart on a free transfer.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Egypt international is no closer to negotiating terms on a new contract, with Liverpool also refusing to move on their rigid wage structure.

Salah wants £400,000 a week in pay, according to the Mirror, but it now appears that the Reds would prefer to let him finish his deal than give in to his demands.

With Salah proving to be one of Liverpool’s most important players under Jurgen Klopp, this appears to be a significant risk for the Reds.
During his time at Anfield, the 30-year-old has scored 156 goals in 254 games, helping LFC win the Premier League title, the Champions League, and other significant trophies.

Liverpool recruited Darwin Nunez this summer, and they also have elite attacking players like Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota, but most fans will be concerned about Salah departing in a year’s time.

It will almost certainly be impossible to replace the former Roma man, who is one of the best players in the world.
