In the Nations League, the Portuguese international was competing.
Diogo Jota, a Liverpool forward, suffered a thigh injury while playing for Portugal in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday when he came on as a second-half substitute against Switzerland in a 1-0 loss.
The athlete complained of muscle pain after the game and did not have to come off during the game, so there is optimism that the injury is mild. The Portuguese Federation later revealed that Jota had had a thigh injury.
After starting the two previous matches against the Czech Republic and Switzerland on June 5th and 9th, the player came on 62 minutes into the second on Sunday. While the severity of the injury is unknown, the Liverpool Echo reports that “procedures have been conducted” by the national team’s medical personnel. The degree of the injuries is expected to be revealed in the following days.
Minor muscular injuries are likely to persist this summer and next season, as players will be pressed for time during a jam-packed schedule in 2022, which will feature the winter World Cup in Qatar.
