Arsenal is trying to bolster Arteta’s midfield, according to the same story, amid concerns about Granit Xhaka’s future at the north London side.

Arsenal is considering Milinkovic-Savic as a summer transfer target, according to Corriere Dello Sport, despite the Serbian’s current market value.

Arsenal could be willing to pay as much as £51 million (€60 million) for Milinkovic-Savic if they find themselves in a bidding war for the Lazio midfielder, according to the Italian media outlet.

However, according to the article, Lazio is looking for at least £55 million (€65 million) for the 27-year-old, so Arsenal’s transfer budget may be strained unless the Serie A team is willing to compromise.

Arsenal will not be able to offer Milinkovic-Savic Champions League football next season, which could jeopardize their chances of securing the Serbian midfielder, according to the source.

Arsenal and Newcastle United, despite their interest, are “not regarded to be enticing choices” for the player this summer, according to the report.

Last season, Milinkovic-Savic, who has 33 caps for Serbia, scored 11 goals and added 11 assists in 37 Serie A games to help Lazio finish ahead of AS Roma in the standings.
